Rape-Obsessed Pedophile Plotted To Kidnap Homeless Boy, Called Abuse Victims 'Stupid'

A rape-obsessed pedophile reportedly used social media to communicate with other predators and plotted to kidnap and abuse homeless children, South Yorkshire authorities said.

Ryan Wood, a loner who hails from Barnsley in England, allegedly plotted the kidnap of a homeless child in Leeds with another pedophile through an online chatroom. Wood, obsessed with the idea of raping children, even told the police that young victims of abuse were “stupid” and “should know better”.

Police had searched Wood’s home in Barnsley in February 2019. An extensive collection and storage of child porn were found on his mobile phone and two laptops, Sheffield Crown Court noted.

Other sexual and disturbing images, videos, as well as shocking search terms, were also discovered from his devices.

During his intensive interrogation with the police, 23-year-old Wood constantly blamed child abuse victims to have had a hand in their own harassment, calling them “stupid” and saying “they show know better,” prosecutor Andrew Bailey said.

Despite this, Wood reportedly punched himself when he was initially arrested and pleaded that he needed to be fixed. Wood even concocted a story and claimed that the reason he had been on chatrooms was to catch pedophiles as an online vigilante.

Wood’s representative defended the suspect, telling judge Recorder David Preston that the reported sexual criminal was a “loving, gentle young man.”

Wood admitted to his charges of making indecent images, distributing indecent images, and possession of a prohibited image.

“You obtained those images of young children being raped among other things and used them for your sexual gratification,” Preston added. “The suggestion in your interview that children were stupid and their parents should look after them better was grossly offensive. You do not blame victims of sexual abuse for their abuse.”

After sentencing Wood to 20 months in prison, Preston added: “You were obviously, by your sharing of this material and by the comments in the chatroom, relishing the thought of children being raped. You obviously had and have an obsession with abuse of the most horrific and serious kind.”

Wood was since made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order. He will be on the sex offenders’ register for the next 10 years.
