The movie written and directed by Chris Rock finally released its start-studded official trailer. “Top Five” is a comedy where Rock’s character, Andre Allen, does not want to be funny any more. For some reason he wants to leave his funnyman days behind him after being the biggest standup star in Hollywood, and being named Time Magazine’s "Funniest Man in America." At the same time, Andre Allen’s engaged to a reality TV star, Erika Long, (Gabrielle Union) whose motto is, “If it’s not on camera it didn’t exist.” Allen is then forced to confront his comedy career, and his past life when a serious journalist from The New York Times, Chelsea Brown (Rosario Dawson), chases him down until she gets the story she wants from him.

When Allen’s fiancée wants to broadcast their wedding on her reality show, his career and reputation are at risk of leading to a B-list future on “Dancing With The Stars.” In the meantime, things continue to get more complicated with every question Ms. Brown asks.

Deadline reported studios were quite impressed with the movie, which was screened at the Toronto Film Festival, and Rock’s “Top Five” landed a $12.5M distribution deal with Paramount, making it the biggest deal in the entire festival. Surely the A list cast and producing must have had something to do with the deal. The movie stars Chris Rock, Rosario Dawson, Kevin Hart, Tracy Morgan, Cedric The Entertainer, J.B. Smoove, Sherri Shepherd, Anders Holm, Romany Malco, Leslie Jones, Michael Che, and Jay Pharoah. And the film is produced by Scott Rudin and Eli Bush. “Jay Z” and Kanye West are Co-Producers and Roots drummer Questlove is the Executive Music Producer.
