Broadway's biggest night is here as the Tony Awards 2014 lines up and incredible cast for the big event. Hugh Jackman is back as host of the show that will honor the best in theatre. The Tony Award-winning actor will preside over the spectacle live from Radio City Music Hall in New York marking the fourth time hosting the program. "We are thrilled that Hugh will be joining us, once again, at Radio City Music Hall to host ‘The 68th Annual Tony Awards,’ said Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League and Heather Hitchens, Executive Director of the American Theatre Wing in a statement. "Hugh is an extraordinary talent and loyal supporter of the Broadway community – whether he is on-stage or in the audience - and we are honored to have him back as host."
Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan will be taking the stage as presenters during the sparkling night. The power couple are the center of a new Broadway musical inspired by their life called "On Your Feet!" Over the summer, Chicago will see the show live and if it proves well it'll make its way over to Broadway for the world to see. Nederlander Organization partnered with Estefan Enterprises and Bernie Yuman for the musical that will incorporate songs from the Estefan catalog. “The Nederlanders came to me over 20 years ago, wanting to do something with a Latino feel. I felt it wasn’t the right timing; I was 40 then,” Emilio Estefan says. “But I think this show can have a great message for minorities about dreams. It can be our way of saying thank you to a country we love.” Jerry Mitchell, the Tony-winning director and choreographer will stage the play and has high hopes for the production. “Their library of music is something I’ve listened to my whole life; many of their tunes came at landmark moments in my life. Their music has incredible melodies and rhythms,” Mitchell says. “And if we need a new lyric, Gloria’s around to write it. That’s an ace in the hole for us. She wants to write new stuff and re-tailor things for the story.”
During the Tony Awards we can also expect a performance honoring the 10th anniversary of "Wicked" and numbers from the cats of this year's Best Musical and Best Musical Revival nominees like "Aladdin," "Les Misérables," "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical," "A Gentleman's Guide To Love And Muder," "Bullets Over Broadway" and "Rocky." Stars set to appear as presenters include Jennifer Hudson, Tina Fey, Orlando Blook, Rosie O'Donnell, LL Cool J, Samuel L. Jackson, Lucy Liu, Clint Eastwood, Kevin Bacon and Bradley Cooper.
