The five-time Superbowl MVP pulls a rabbit out of his hat again with some fourth quarter magic.
After rallying from a 13-point deficit and throwing a couple of touchdown passes in the final three minutes of Monday night's game, Tom Brady, 45, exceeds Peyton Manning for the most fourth-quarter comebacks in NFL history with 44.
“Just like we drew it up,” said the 15-time Pro Bowl veteran, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6) beat the New Orleans Saints, 17-16.
Tom Brady was 0-37 in the regular season when trailing by 13 points or more in the fourth quarter, and 1-43 including playoffs. He was on the cusp of being held without a touchdown at Raymond James Stadium by New Orleans for the third straight season.
Then the magic happened for five-time NFL passing touchdown leader. Tampa Bay, with their backs to the wall, scored an impressive 91-yard scoring drive followed by a 63-yard drive, within the closing minutes of the game.
The win over the Saints keeps the Bucs' in first place of a weak NFC South division.
Brady, no stranger to games coming down to the wire, was the second time this season the 23-year vet has thrown a come-from-behind winning touchdown in the final 15 seconds of a game. This time coming in the form of a 6-yard touchdown to rookie running back Rachaad White, who scored with 8 seconds remaining.
"It's just amazing. I've just been grateful," the rookie running back said about the win. White added, "I believe I was just born when TB had first gotten into the league. I was born in '99. Just to be able to be a part of that years later down the road, you just be grateful. And you've got to cherish these moments."
Tampa Bay looks to tighten up their grip on the NFC South division lead next week, as the Buccaneers travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers next Sunday.
