Tiona Rodriguez is the teenage mother accused of walking around a Herald Square Victoria's Secret with the body of her dead baby in a bag. Now Rodriguez's lawyer, Genay Ann Leitman is saying the 17-year-old has been receiving threats via Facebook. Rodriguez's Facebook page is now deactivated but the teen who is accused of hiding her pregnancy did leave a status on her page the day she was arrested with the fetus in a bag. Rodriguez wrote "These cramps son," on Facebook October 16 before heading out to shoplift at Victoria's Secret with her friend.
"The mother informed me that Tiona was getting threats on the internet," Leitman told the Daily News. According to Leitman the 17-year-old mother was also a college bound high school senior until she was detained by guards at Victoria's Secret. On the Thursday afternoon when the incident took place security at the store in New York City stopped Rodriguez and her friend because the girls were thought to have stolen items from the store. When security checked Rodriguez's bags they found more than just stolen underwear.
The fetus was male and wrapped in a plastic bag. An autopsy is planned for the premature boy but reports say the fetus did not appear to show any signs of trauma. The official cause of death will be announced upon completion of the autopsy. The International Business Times reports that Rodriquez was six months pregnant and told police she had a miscarriage Wednesday night and did not know what to do with the remains. Rodriquez has not been charged with a crime relating to her baby but she and her friend have been charged with petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
