Life in the National Football League hasn't been kind to Tim Tebow in recent years. Sure the former University of Florida standout has enjoyed some positives since joining the league in 2010, but with many ups come many downs as well, something we all have to deal with in life. Tebow was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2010 draft by the Denver Broncos after completing a college career as one of the most decorated players in the history of the collegiate game. In 4 seasons as a Gator, the 26-year-old won 2 BCS National Championships, 2 First-Team All-American honors while and brought home the 2007 Heisman Trophy.
Spending 2 seasons in Denver, Tebow resurrected a struggling franchise 5 games into the 2011 season. With the Broncos a poor 1-4 overall and with starting quarterback Kyle Orton struggling, Tim Tebow was handed the keys to the Denver offense and thanks to his determination along with a strong Broncos defense backing him up, Denver reached the postseason. Defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the AFC Playoffs, Tebow and company certainly deserved praise although they'd fall to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots the next week. Tebow's performance for most of 2011 was surely noteworthy but his overall inconsistency in the passing game forced team vice president John Elway to release the quarterback after Denver signed former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.
Promptly picked up by the New York Jets, Tebow saw an insulting amount of playing time in 2012, primarily in uniform just so the Jets and boisterous head coach Rex Ryan could make headlines. Released once again, the New England Patriots brought in the lefty to see if he could make the roster as a back-up quarterback behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett. Though he performed well in his final preseason game - throwing 2 touchdowns against the New York Giants - Tebow was once again released, leaving his NFL future in serious doubt.
While it may not be a guarantee that Tim Tebow will ever play in the NFL again, one Arena League team with legendary owners is highly interested in his services. According to USA Today, the LA KISS - owned of course by legendary rock band KISS - have officially offered Tim Tebow a contract. Worth an unspecified 'millions' over 3 seasons, Tim Tebow is now the first player targeted by the AFL squad.
"Acquiring Tebow would not only be a great investment for the team, but his exciting style of play would definitely send shockwaves through the League," KISS bassist Gene Simmons said recently. "We're excited for the opportunity to see him with an LA KISS uniform on, and for the LA KISS fans to be rockin' their Tebow shirts and jerseys."
The NFL may not come calling anytime soon unless a team finds itself in desperate need of quarterback play due to injury but at least there is an open invitation for Tebow to continue to play the game he loves and seemingly make a comfortable living while doing so.
