Donald Trump’s former daughter in-law Vanessa and daughter Tiffany were involved in "inappropriately close" relationships with Secret Service agents when he was the President, reveals a book.
The new book on the US Secret Service titled "Zero Fail: The Rise and Fall of the Secret Service," is by Carol Leonnig. According to the book, the Secret Service agents reported that Vanessa, the wife of the former President’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr, “started dating one of the agents who had been assigned to her family."
Leonnig claimed that since neither the agent concerned nor the agency were officially protecting Vanessa back then, no disciplinary action was taken against him, reported The Guardian. It's unclear when the alleged relationship started. While Vanessa filed for divorce in March 2018, Leonnig wrote that Tiffany split from a boyfriend and “began spending an unusual amount of time alone with a Secret Service agent on her detail."
According to the book, Secret Service leaders “became concerned at how close Tiffany appeared to be getting to the tall, dark and handsome agent."
Agents are not allowed to have personal relationships with people whom they protect to avoid their judgement to be clouded.
Leonnig wrote that Tiffany and the agent said that nothing untoward was happening and pointed out that the job required him to spend time alone with her. The agent was later reassigned.
The author added in the book that it was unclear if Donald Trump knew what Secret Service personnel were saying about his two family members. But she said that the president repeatedly tried to remove Secret Service staff he considered to be overweight or too short. “I want these fat guys off my detail. How are they going to protect me and my family if they can’t run down the street?” Trump reportedly said.
Commenting on Leonnig's book and her comments on Tiffany and Vanessa, a Secret Service spokesperson said, "The US Secret Service is aware of an upcoming book which re-hashes past challenges the agency overcame and evolved from."
"Now and throughout its 156 year history, the agency's skilled workforce is dedicated to the successful execution of its critical protective and investigative missions," added the spokesperson, as reported by People.
A spokeswoman for Tiffany denied claims made in the book. The spokeswoman said that Tiffany's "experience with the Secret Service was entirely professional" and that the claims were "nothing more than gossip."
Meanwhile, Tiffany and Michael Boulos took to Instagram in January to announce their engagement. "Got engaged to the love of my life! Looking forward to our next chapter together," Boulos wrote on Instagram in January. The couple reportedly first met at Lindsay Lohan's club in Mykonos in 2018.
