A case that's divinely "ironic" has struck St Andrew's Church in Lincolnshire, England, where thieves made off with three religious artworks—including a painting of the Ten Commandments with the words "Thou shalt not steal."
Authorities are now investigating the robbery that happened sometime before February 23.
"It is a random crime. Obviously it doesn't make you feel good that some items have been stolen," said church warden Basil Harwood per BBC.
The paintings, framed in heavy wood, also included The Lord's Prayer.
While their value is unknown, police stressed they have "sentimental value to the church and its members."
The thieves are believed to have entered the church during the day, secured a door from the inside, and later returned to steal the paintings, investigators said.
No damage was reported to the building.
Despite the incident, Harwood stated they would remain "vigilant and more aware" but keep the church open to the public.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crime to come forward.
