A teenager in Delhi, India, was stabbed to death by four men while he was on his way to buy a cake for his father’s birthday. The brutal attack was caught on a surveillance camera.
The incident took place Tuesday, June 1, in South Delhi's Ambedkar Nagar.
According to the Delhi city police, the victim, 19-year-old Kunal, was on his way to a pastry shop to buy a cake for his father when the four armed men surrounded him and stabbed him to death.
Police say Tuesday’s incident was a retaliation to an earlier fight involving a girl.
In the CCTV footage, the teen victim can be seen running for help while the attackers continue to stab him multiple times.
The victim sustained serious stab wounds in the chest, back, and abdomen, the police said.
He was rushed to Max Hospital in Saket after some passerby alerted his family of the incident. He was later pronounced at the hospital.
The police began investigating and soon arrested all four suspects after identifying them from the surveillance footage.
Since the victim's family was aware of the earlier conflict involving the girl, they reported it to the investigators after the murder.
Police apprehend all four suspects -- Gaurav, Roop, Sohil, and fourth person, whose name is being withheld by police. All suspects were aged below 20 years and reportedly unemployed, the police said.
Suspects, Gaurav and Roop are currently being held by the crime branch while the local police apprehended Sohil and the fourth person.
The investigators also recovered the murder weapons which they say the suspects bought from an online shopping website.
"It has been revealed that both accused Gaurav and victim Kunal liked the same girl and due to this, there was enmity between both. During the investigation it has revealed that the two knives were ordered online through Flipkart by the accused persons," a report in Hindustan Times quoted Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south).
All four accused are facing murder charges, police said. The DCP confirmed that the girl in question had nothing to do with the murder.
