A woman and her daughter were murdered inside an abandoned hospital building allegedly by her teen daughter, and their elderly driver, who were later found dead at the family’s home in the same building, police said on Thursday, June 30, authorities said.
The mother, 45-year-old Kiran Dalvi, and her 26-year-old daughter Muskan were found lying in a pool of blood, on the second floor of the ground-plus-two-story structure, which served as the family’s hospital and house, located near Kandivali railway station in the Indian city of Mumbai, late on Wednesday night, according to reports.
Dalvi’s younger daughter, 17-year-old Bhoomi, and the family’s driver, 60-year-old Shivdayal Sen were found hanging dead on the first floor of the building in the early hours of the day, a police official said.
Police said they responded to the scene after locals reported hearing screams from the building, just moments after they saw a man with a sickle entering the building with two women.
Police officers, who investigated the scene, also recovered a suicide note, from Sen’s possession which indicated that Bhoomi and Sen killed themselves after murdering Dalvi and Muskan over some domestic issues, NDTV reported.
The exact motive behind the alleged murder-suicide remains unclear.
The bodies were sent to the Shatabdi Hospital morgue, where an autopsy will determine the official cause of death of all the deceased.
A case under section 302 (murder) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered and a further probe is underway, the official said.
This is an ongoing investigation and no further details were revealed at the time of this writing.

The dismembered body of Mahananda Biswas was found on the railway tracks near Lakdikapul Railway Station in the Indian city of Hyderabad on Tuesday, June 28.
His 21-year-old wife, Komta Sarkar was found dead at their rented home in Chintalbasti under the Panjagutta police station limits.
Biswas' diary recovered from his pant pocket revealed that he ended his life after killing his wife.
