Shemane Nugent, wife of famous gun-rights supporter and guitarist Ted Nugent, was arrested at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. TSA agents apprehended Shemane upon finding a gun concealed in her carry-on bag Thursday. The agents took her into custody, airport spokesman David Magana said. The legal issues are currently being worked through. David Finn, Nugent's lawyer, told reporters that leaving the weapon in her bag was an honest mistake, and that she did not intended to bring the firearm aboard.

"She is very embarrassed. She's never been in this situation before," Finn said. "She has expressed remorse for any inconvenience for any public safety officials." The 51-year-old was on her way to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She told arresting officers that she had been carrying a handgun recently in the wake of a number of death threats she had received. Shemane has a licence to carry a concealed weapon.

She and her rocker husband have been married since 1989 and the two of them have spoken vehemetly against President Barack Obama's proposed gun-control legislation. Her husband Ted is a board member of the National Rifle Association, and has made several appearances on Fox News to speak about his position on gun rights. Shemane often appears in uploaded family videos of the Nugents at target practice, firing off a number of weapons.
