A former teacher who was arrested on multiple charges related to sexual assault and abuse has pleaded guilty on Monday, Feb. 14, to a variety of sex crimes which included feeding schoolchildren cupcakes with her husband’s semen in them.
Thirty-six-year-old Cynthia Perkins pleaded guilty to child pornography, second-degree rape, and mingling of harmful substances and will testify against her ex-husband Dennis Perkins in exchange for the dropping of 68 other charges pending against her, the New York Post reported.
The former school teacher has admitted to a variety of sex crimes against children, including helping her husband sexually abuse a child, and mixing her husband’s semen into cupcakes that were served to schoolchildren, according to Fox 17.
“She not only waived any right to appeal, and attempt to avoid conviction, but she also spared the victims from reliving her horrific crimes during this particular trial. Today’s conviction is in the best interest of our victims and justice,” Jeff Landry, the Attorney General of the state, said.
“These three [charges] we thought were representative of what she had done and by agreeing to the facts as we put them out on the record she prepared herself to testify against Dennis Perkins,” Louisiana Assistant Attorney General Barry Milligan said.
Perkins was a teacher at the Louisiana town of Livingston Parish, while her husband Dennis worked as a deputy for the local sheriff’s office. Cynthia resigned from her position after her arrest while Dennis was fired for the act.
Cynthia and her lawyers have put forward that she was an unwilling victim of Dennis, who she said manipulated her into doing his criminal bidding. She divorced her husband shortly after they were both arrested.
“He is the real monster. That’s what she wants to make clear, it’s not about shifting blame, she took responsibility today, I mean, that’s what she did, but, she looks forward going after the real monster,” one of her attorneys said in a statement.
Cynthia will reportedly get a sentence of 41 years in prison, while Dennis faces trial in May on 150 different charges of sex and other crimes.
