A ‘cannibal teacher’ who is on trial for murdering and eating the body parts of his lover told the court that he hid the penis of the deceased because his DNA was on it.
The 42-year-old maths and chemistry teacher, Stefan R., is standing trial for killing and eating 43-year-old Stefan Trogisch, in his apartment on Parkstrasse Street in the German capital Berlin on Sept. 6 in 2020.
The duo had met each other just a few hours prior to the killing through a dating app.
The teacher claims that they had sex the night before Trogisch died and that he did not call emergency services "because it would have come out that I am homosexual".
The defendant told the court that Trogisch died in his sleep and he found him lifeless on the sofa in the morning, adding that he tried to revive him because he didn’t want the man to die.
According to the German daily Bild, the teacher dismembered Trogisch’s body to dispose of it but separated the genitals to bury them.
Trogisch was reported missing for weeks. Some of his body parts were later discovered in various locations in the city, but the penis is still missing.
The teacher told the court he removed the penis "since my DNA could still have possibly been present due to the oral sex I performed."
The court heard that the teacher had bought a freezer five days before his date with Trogisch. When his sister asked what he wanted it for he reportedly told her he planned to keep pizza in it.
The defendant had also purchased a three-part butcher knife set and a bone saw which he had hidden next to his bedroom cupboard, the court heard.
The maths teacher had also placed a sex swing in his living room as well as a sign on the window ledge that said: "Instructions for emasculating and slaughtering a person."
Following the steamy session, the defendant allegedly chopped the fitter into pieces and ate some of them before dumping the remains in various locations around the German capital, the court heard.
The teacher was caught when police found 25kg (55 lbs) of a sodium hydroxide cleaning agent in his apartment that the police described as a solution "suitable for dissolving human tissue".
Investigators also discovered traces of the victim's blood in the hallway of the teacher’s apartment.
The teacher was charged with murder on May 18. A sentencing hearing is expected to be scheduled on Oct. 21.
