She was the baby for the six years that NBC aired the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." Now, the beloved Tatyana Ali, who portrayed Ashley Banks on the popular '90s sitcom, is expecting a baby of her own! Ali, who is of Panamanian descent, revealed the exclusive happy news to Entertainment Tonight, announcing that besides being pregnant she is also engaged to Dr. Vaughn Rasberry, an English professor at Stanford University.
"Planning our wedding has been so exciting, but when we found out we were expecting, our perspective shifted completely," the TV and movie actress explained to ET Online. "We want our ceremony to really celebrate our newest blessing! Plus, I have the best wedding planner, Michael Russo. He's making everything so fun and stress free!," she added.
Ali, who also starred in CBS' renowned soap opera "The Young and the Restless," got engaged with Rasberry after a year and a half of dating. According to the 37-year-old on-screen starlet, the couple met in an online dating site. "Vaughn and I met on eHarmony! It was my first time dating online. We wrote letters for months before we decided to Skype. And then, of course, met," she said in a gist.
She also dished to ET about the doctor's lovely wedding proposal. "He took me on a 45-minute hike in the Redwoods [in Yosemite, California], which he knows I absolutely love. And proposed in the most picturesque clearing," she said. "Just the two of us. It was so thoughtful and perfect. We're best friends."
After the news made headlines, Ali expressed her gratitude on social media. "Thanks so much everyone for all the well wishes!!! Looks like this is going to be a really full year," she expressed on her Twitter account. Congrats to the novios and soon-to-be parents, who are expecting their first child together.
