Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) suggested that Hollywood has "programmed" Americans to view Russia as an enemy for decades.

Greene criticized U.S. support for Ukraine in its ongoing war against Russia, arguing that the conflict has resulted in over one million deaths and global economic instability in a post on X on Saturday. She called for lifting sanctions on Russia and pushing for diplomatic solutions instead.

"Have you ever noticed how for decades now Hollywood always made Russia the bad guy in their movies? It's like Americans have been programmed to believe Russia must be the enemy at all times," Greene wrote.

The Georgia congresswoman, an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, further argued that U.S. support for Ukraine has only led to economic hardships and that it's time to restore relations with both Ukraine and Russia to promote "peace and prosperity."

Her comments follow a dramatic clash between Trump and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky in an Oval Office meeting on Friday. Tensions have increased between the U.S. and its longtime ally Ukraine since the Trump administration entered office, with Trump seemingly embracing Russian president Vladimir Putin while criticizing Zelensky's leadership.

Greene's comments reflect the Trump administration's novel approach to foreign relations as Trump redefines global alliances for the U.S.
