Former Texas teacher, Tanya Ramirez, pleaded guilty to having sexual relationships with 17-year-old student, Tristan Price. Ramirez, who was a teacher and a coach at King High School in Corpus Christi, was sentenced to seven years of probation and was fired in 2014 after allegations emerged.
In a surprise turn of events, Ramirez has decided to fight back and filed a lawsuit against the minor and his mother. The 31-year-old woman is accusing Tristan of “extreme and outrageous” conduct and invasion of privacy for secretly recording their sexual encounter and sharing it with his friends.
On Wednesday’s episode of “The Dr. Phil Show,” Ramirez revealed she is also suing Kimberly Tademy, the teenager’s mother, for defamation. Ramirez claims she publicly called her “a sexual predator” and accused her of sleeping with other students.
“The reason, like, I recorded it was because I had been drinking before, so I was not really in the right mind. I remember talking to my friend about it, and he was just telling me that if you don’t have proof [of sex with Ramirez] then I’m not going to believe you,” Tristan told Dr. Phil. “But I didn’t mean to send it [the video] out. I accidentally sent it in a group message, which I really didn’t mean to do.”
Ramirez elaborated on the reasons behind her decision and stated, “It’s not right to call out someone in the media. Now people look at me as a sexual predator. Her son was an adult at the time, and so he chose to have a sexual relationship with me. I want to get justice for what he did to me.”
When Ramirez asked Tamedy to publicly apologize for her statements, she replied, “I am sorry that my son ever met Tanya Ramirez. That is the only apology that she will get from me.”
