"Supergirl" has found its U.S. president for the second season of the show. "Wonder Woman's" Lynda Carter will join the DC superhero series as the POTUS, according to IGN.
This will be Carter's second time in a DC Comics hero series, as the actress played the Amazonian superheroine Diana Prince or Wonder Woman in the 1970s series of the same name. Carter will appear in multiple episodes in the coming season and is currently slated to make her debut in the third episode.
Early this year, the series executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti said they wanted Carter for this exact role in the first season of "Supergirl," but scheduling made that a problem.
"We're going to do it, we'll just do it next year," Kreisberg said and it looks like they were able to achieve their goal.
Meanwhile, "Teen Wolf" alum Tyler Hoechlin has been cast to play Superman in Season 2 of "Supergirl." Superman will be introduced visiting his cousin Kara (Melissa Benoist) in National City at the beginning of Season 2, appearing in the first two new episodes.
Kreisberg said of Hoechlin's casting, "Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character."
Furthermore, TV Line reported that the series is on the search for some major recurring roles. The series is looking to add a few comicbook characters including Lex Luthor's younger sister Lena and a metahuman detective named Maggie who appears to be a version of Maggie "Maggs" Sawyer. "Supergirl" is also looking to add Nick Farrow, Snapper Carr and a villainous female doctor who works on Project Cadmus.
"Supergirl" will premiere this fall on Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. EDT.
