Nintendo's highly-anticipated "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and 3DS has been getting a lot of coverage since E3 2014. The title will see many updates from the previous versions and will finally be available on the company's handheld device, which will have different features and stages compared to its Wii U counterpart. But the real question on every gamer's mind is which fighters will make the roster for the upcoming titles.
Some of the new characters announced for the next installment include Mega Man, Pac-Man, Palutena and Little Mac while some of the veteran fighters like brothers Mario and Luigi, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, Samus and Link will all return to the arena. However, there are more than a handful of characters that have yet to be revealed that were widely popular in the previous games.
Check out these 14 fighters that need to make a return in "Super Smash Bros." Wii U and 3DS: Mr. Game & Watch, Lucas, Solid Snake, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, Wario, Meta Knight, Ice Climbers, Falco, Ness, Mewtwo, R.O.B., Wolf and Ganondorf. Someone else missing from the list is the Pokemon Trainer but it appears this time around the Pokemon will fight on their own. Charizard is now a standalone character but not his two pals Squirtle and Bulbasaur are missing.
As of now the character roster host 33 fighters from including: Pac-Man, Ike, Palutena, Charizard, Mii Fighters, Yoshi, Greninja, Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, Diddy Kong, Lucario, King Dedede, Little Mac, Zelda, Rosalina and Luma, Marth, Sonic, Toon Link, Peach, Luigi, Pikmin and Olimar, Villager, Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Mega Man, Kirby, Wii Fit Trainer, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser and Pit.
You'll notice some of the characters like Sheik and Zelda and Samus and Zero Suit are now their own entities. During a Nintendo Direct focused on "Super Smash Bros." Masahiro Sakurai revealed that this time around there will be no character transformations and each fighter will have their own moves and abilities.
"Super Smash Bros." for 3DS is slated to launch October 3 while the Wii U version has a launch window for winter/holiday 2014.
