The eighth season of USA Network’s popular legal drama series was a bit disappointing to long-time fans of the show. Among the original six cast members, half of them — Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres and Meghan Markle — were conspicuously absent last season.
But that’s about to change for the better in Season 9. At least one among the three actors is likely to rejoin the “Suits” cast for its ninth and final season. “We're trying to figure it out and see if it's possible. I hope so,” actor Patrick Adams told Entertainment Tonight on Friday.
He explained that one thing that needs to be ironed out first is his and the show’s scheduling. “With schedules and other work that's coming along, it's just a scheduling thing, but I'm hoping so,” Adams added. “It depends on the story they write. They gotta figure it out, and if they even want me. You've gotta ask them … I'd love to make it work if I could.”
Even former “Suits” castmate Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna Paulsen in the series, says she’s trying to convince him to go back and telling him it's important he returns for the final season. “We can't wrap it up without Mike Ross, right? It's really important,” Rafferty told ET. “He's a man of his word, I think he'll do it. We can't say goodbye without him.”
However, Meghan Markle, who is now the Duchess of Sussex after her marriage to Prince Harry, is not likely to reprise her role as Rachel Zane in the show due to her royal duties taking precedence over everything else. In fact, even series creator Aaron Korsh already said that they are “not currently pursuing asking Meghan to leave her position with the royal family and join us.”
“I would love it, but I think it’s pretty close to zero,” Korsh said, talking about the chances of the duchess going back for “Suits” final season.
