Cristian de la Fuente takes the leading role as Ricardo Alegría in the upcoming romantic comedy "Sueño de Amor." The telenovela, also starring Betty Monroe as Esperanza Guerrero, is about two lovebirds who rekindle 20 years after separating. The only obstacle, is that both Esperanza and Ricardo have love interests and children when they meet again.
"'Sueño de Amor' is everything," De La Fuente told Latin Times about the production, stating that it has all the ingredients of a novela: romance, melodrama, humor, action. "I believe that's why it had the success it did in Mexico," he added. In "Sueñor de Amor," the Chilean actor portrays Ricardo Alegría, an Interpol agent in the U.S. "My character is fun, but he suffered a lot," he said. "He crossed the border illegally, he went to war, he had a tough life, a difficult marriage; however, he's always happy and positive, especially for his kids," he added.
The former "Dancing with the Stars" performer stars in the forthcoming production with Mexican actress Betty Monroe, who he describes as someone who is very professional. "She's always on time, she's knowledgeable and always motivated," he said of his colleague, adding that there's always great energy in the studio because of her.
"Sueño de Amor," which premieres at 8 p.m. ET on March 8 via Univision, also sends an important message, according to De La Fuente. "Never stop dreaming. No matter the obstacles in your personal life, your love life, your health or work, always keep dreaming and continue forward," he said.
