Ana Serradilla returns as Griselda Blanco ---the "Godmother of Cocaine"--- in the highly-anticipated "La Viuda Negra II," based on José Guarnizo's book "La patrona de Pablo Escobar." In the new season, Blanco does not only work with the American government in order to save her son from the electric chair, but she also defies death and struggles between redemption and vengeance for the sake of her family.
"There will be new characters and a lot of action," Serradilla told Latin Times about the new season. "The whole cast is practically new," she added of the series which counts with the participation of stars such as Alfredo Ahnert, María Fernanda Yepes, Eduardo Victoria, Hugo Albores, Claudio Cataño, Angeline Moncayo, Isabella Córdoba, and Sandra Beltrán.
Serradilla, however, returns more passionate than ever as the leading role. "It's a huge responsibility to balance your personal life with a project," the 37-year-old Mexican actress said. "It's complicated because a leading role can be very demanding and your life becomes the project. You push to loved ones to the side, important events.... it's a lot of sacrifice," she stated, adding that after the series she plans to go back to film and theater.
"La Viuda Negra II" will have a simulcast world premiere at 10 p.m. on Sunday, February 28 on Univision, UniMas and Galavision. It will then air in its regular timeslot at 10 p.m. Monday through Friday on UniMas as of Monday, February 29. "It's a first level production with extraordinary actors," Serradilla said on why everyone should tune in to the premiere. "There's a lot of special effects and a lot of action," she emphasized.
