Mexican actress Ana Serradilla is slated to play a role of a lifetime in soap opera "La Viuda Negra" ("The Black Widow") where she will be playing Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco. Not surprisingly, Serradilla has revealed that this role has been the most challenging role in her career, thus far, and was a hard part to refuse, as it was very different from her previous work.
"A woman who is not of my nationality, so I had to learn to speak with an accent. Moreover, their lifestyle also had to learn to fight and use weapons," said the 35-year-old actress, who was born in Mexico city, reports El Espectador.
The show, which premiered on Sunday night, chronicles the life of a drug lord that is known as "Madrina de la Cocaína" ("Cocaine Godmother"), who was a key player in the Miami drug trafficking scene in the late '70s and '80s. According to Serradilla, the role caught her attention due to the character's complexity and "dark" psychology.
"It was very interesting to see how a woman for so many years could survive in a man's world, using his intelligence, cunning and manipulating men and women alike, to follow their orders. I think your success, if you will you can call it that, it was because no one expected to see a woman in this very violent environment," said the actress.
