Student Kills Himself After His Parents Scold Him For Not Attending College

A college student allegedly killed himself after his parents scolded him for not attending school in Lalapet, Telangana, India on Friday, Feb. 11.

The 20-year-old private college student, identified as M Manish, was reportedly harshly scolded by his parents on Friday for skipping classes and refusing to take his tertiary education seriously. An upset Manish subsequently locked himself inside his room late Friday and reportedly took his own life by hanging a noose from the ceiling as his parents slept, Telangana Today reported.

“He is suspected to have hanged himself in the house on Friday night,” Lalapet police said.

Following the incident, the Lalapet law enforcement have registered a case into the death. The authorities have also launched an investigation into the incident.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a 20-year-old college girl allegedly killed herself after failing to secure the funds to pay for her exam fee in Palakkad, Kerala, India on Jan. 30, Mathrubhumi reported.

On Sunday, Beena, a third-year Bachelor of Commerce student at a private college in Palakkad, was found lifeless inside her family's home in Ummini, Kerala. The student was found dead after her family members grew suspicious of her absence, not seeing her around their house for several hours. She was subsequently found hanging from the window of her room.

Her family immediately rushed Beena to a nearby hospital. However, the student was declared dead upon arrival by the facility's physicians.

According to Beena's brother, the young student was distraught over the non-payment of her exam fees at her college. Beena's mother recently visited the school to pay the exam fee. However, the school's officials reportedly only accepted tuition fee payments at the time and refused to accept and accept exam fee payments.

They stated that they had already forwarded the exam fee link to the university and refused to accept late exam fee payments. Following this, Beena’s mother returned home and informed the student about the shortcoming.

When Beena heard about the incident, she reportedly became extremely upset. On Sunday morning, Jan. 30, Beena went to take a shower in her room and didn’t come out for several hours. When the family members searched for her, they discovered her hanging from the window of her room.

Her family members believe that Beena decided to end her life after being distressed over not being allowed to take her examinations over the late payment of her school fees.
