A Tennessee woman allegedly stole a man's car, and then demanded he pay her hundreds of dollars to get it back.

On Oct. 12, 45-year-old Michala Schurger allegedly took a 2015 Audi A8L from a man's home. She then reportedly texted the man that she would give the car back if he paid her $375 and covered her $80 hotel bill, as reported by WREG.

The car's owner told police that he had met Schurger only a couple of weeks ago.

Schurger was arrested after police said that the man was able to identify her in a lineup, as reported by WREG.

The 45-year-old was charged with extortion. On Monday, she was booked into Shelby County Jail and is currently being held on a $30,000 bond.

While the car's owner reportedly knew the thief in this instance, the FBI said only about one in five car theft cases have been solved since 2000, as reported by CBS News.
