An argument that got out of control has left four people dead in what appears to be a murder-suicide.
Police said Wednesday that a man entered the Cherokee Place Business Incubator and got into an argument, drawing a semi-automatic weapon and shooting two women and a man before shooting himself. No one else was injured, according to the New York Daily News. St. Louis Police Capt. Michael Sack said those who were killed were in their 50s and 60s. Surveillance videos reveal the scene that unfolded inside.
"We don't know if this is a prior thing that carried over," Sack said.
Police have not tracked down any witnesses, CNN reported. The building is owned by Will Liebermann, known for converting buildings into live-work spaces. Some employees in nearby offices of the building said they heard the shots, but did not see the scene unfold. The building is home to five to 10 small companies, according to Anne McCullough of the Cherokee Street Business Association.
"It's sad to see, but there's a lot of things that happen," McCullough told the Chicago Tribune. "Cherokee is a strong, strong neighborhood, and we'll get through this."
Around a dozen police officers immediately arrived on the scene and sealed off the area. Police removed three people from the building in handcuffs, but later released them after questioning. Police say the act was targeted, but have not yet revealed a motive, but have released the name of the specific business in which the shooting occurred as AK Home Health Care LLC.
