The new SRT Viper might as well be named the Chrysler Phoenix. Rising from the ashes of Chrysler's bankruptcy in 2009, the SRT Viper is now the most anticipated vehicle to come from the Pentastar brand yet.
Nearing its November launch, esteemed members of the motoring press (not me, unfortunately) were invited to the Gingerman Speedway of South Haven, Michigan, to get some seat time in the new Viper in order to experience the violence of its 8.4 liter V10 powerplant first hand.
Lighter, more rigid, and more powerful, the new SRT Viper is also the star in Chrysler's latest promo video. A mixture of wild track action and sensible trackside commentary, SRT brand CEO Ralph Gilles gave a brief introduction of the Viper to provide the public with an idea of just what Chrysler wanted to achieve with its halo supercar.

"We're really happy to finally have our fifth member of the SRT portfolio... the Viper is obviously the flagship of the brand and it houses some really cool technology that have come straight from our racing program of the years -- the carbon fiber, the X-brace, the two-piece rotors, the aggressive rubber from Pirelli. Some really good things are coming up ahead for the Viper."
Gilles also remarked, "[The SRT Viper] is the kind of car you don't have to drive 9/10ths to fall in love with it -- I'm driving at 3/10ths here and I'm falling in love with it."
The new SRT Viper will hit the market later this year and will start at a (relatively) sensible $97,395.
