Peter Weller is one of the directors on 'Sons of Anarchy' he directed several episodes in seasons four, five and the upcoming sixth season. In season six Weller will be stepping in front of the camera as an ex-cop working at the Stockton port. The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively about Weller's appearance on the show but does not say if Weller's character will be helpful or a hindrance to SAMCRO.
In season six "Sons of Anarchy" president Jax Teller, played by Charlie Hunnam will have to deal with the arrest of his wife Tara played by Maggie Siff. At the end of season Five Tara was arrested as an accessory to a murder committed by Otto, an SOA member on death row. Otto is played by show creator Kurt Sutter.
Tara is a doctor and goes to the prison under the pretense of doing outreach work with the inmates. She is really there to try and get Otto to change his mind about turning on the club. Otto decides not to rat on SAMCRO but is still hurt and angry with the club over the way his wife died.
While simultaneously recanting his statement to the FBI and hurting Jax as an act of revenge, Otto kills a nurse in front of Tara. Otto uses a cross belonging to his dead wife Tara brought to him to stab the woman to death. Since Tara gave Otto the cross the authorities look at her as an accomplice to the nurse's murder.
As the episode comes to a close it is hard to tell who told the police Tara gave Otto the cross. It could be either Jax's mother Gemma played by Katey Sagal or the brother of the nurse Otto killed played by Donald Logue. The obvious choice is Gemma, she threatened Tara earlier in the episode. Gemma warned her the cops would learn she gave Otto the cross if Tara tried to leave Charming with Gemma's grandchildren.
The season finale of season 5 drew an audience of 6.4 million viewers. Donald Logue will return in season six alongside Jimmy Smits and Drea de Matteo. E! News has the official logline for season six,
"Having framed Clay for the murder of Damon Pope, Season Six begins with Jax's leadership uncontested, but his family life suffering from his single-minded pursuit of John Teller's vision. Jax must find a way to keep Tara from going to prison for conspiracy to commit murder while rebuilding his club and breaking from the cycle of violence and greed that ultimately led to his best friend's death."
