The son of the Tesla Cybertruck owner, whose license plate "LOLOCT7" was accused of mocking the Hamas attack on Israel, has spoken out, insisting it has been misinterpreted.

The personalized California license plate sparked outrage online for seemingly mocking the Oct. 7, 2023, attack, leading the California DMV to issue an apology and recall the plate, KTLA reported.

The license plate went viral after being shared online by the watchdog group StopAntisemitism. The organization claimed the plate celebrated the deadly attack that left approximately 1,200 people dead and demanded action from the DMV.

Most recently, the car owner's son clarified the misunderstanding, explaining that "LOLO" means "grandfather" in Tagalog, "CT" refers to Cybertruck, and "7" represents the owner's seven grandchildren, as reported by KTLA.

Despite this explanation and claims that the description was submitted during the application process, the DMV apologized for the oversight and confirmed the plate would be recalled.

The family plans to replace the license plate, emphasizing they meant no harm and expressing empathy toward those offended by the misunderstanding.

Meanwhile, the DMV has promised to strengthen its review process to prevent similar incidents in the future.
