Beyoncé and Solange Knowles were notably missing from their father's wedding. Beyoncé's father, Matthew Knowles, married former model Gena Charmaine Avery on Sunday, June 30, in Houston, Texas.
Us Weekly reported that Knowles, 61, was engaged to the 48-year-old model for a year and a half. Knowles explained that both Beyoncé, 31, and Solange, 27, could not attend his wedding. "Unfortunately, Beyoncé and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend," he explained.
Knowles, who is the head of Music World Entertainment, no longer manages his daughter's music career. He stopped managing Beyoncé's career in March of 2011. In a statement to Us Weekly at the time Beyoncé said there was no hard feelings between herself and her father based on her career decision.
"I've only parted ways with my father on a business level," Beyoncé said. "He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me. I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hard-working entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps."
Knowles' divorced Beyonce and Solange's mother, Tina Knowles, in 2011 after 31 years of marriage.
