The 76ers got off to a rough start to the season. They’ve faced some key injuries to guys like James Harden, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey but have shown great resiliency in winning games short-handed.
The Sixers had won 3 of four games without the aforementioned trio, and in Embiid’s return, last night were victorious in a win over the Atlanta Hawks. The Sixers are considered to be serious title contenders when healthy, and are now showing their depth is more than capable.
Philadelphia is currently the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. James Harden is nearing a return and Tyrese Maxey is expected to be out for a few more weeks. It is imperative that they are able to stay afloat in a crowded conference as their key guys get healthy.
They’ve gotten positive contributions from Shake Milton, Tobias Harris, and Furkan Korkmaz. Doc Rivers has used the injuries to mix and match his bench units and figure out where his bench guys can fit in when the roster is healthy. The Sixers' play of late is certainly encouraging, especially when you factor in their slow start and key injuries.
