The controversy began when Gris Guerrero, the stylist's younger sister, announced Jesús' death on February 22. This fact alarmed Jesus' followers, who were aware that just a couple of days before the tragic news, the stylist had accompanied the Bronx Diva on a "business trip" to Dubai as part of her team. Later, it was learned that the young man was already in poor health during the trip.

Following this situation, many Internet users pointed fingers at the artist, accusing her of having abandoned her stylist and friend in that country while her health worsened. Faced with the malicious comments, Gris decided to speak out about the events and clarify JLo's role in her brother's death.
According to Gris' statements to the US Weekly portal, JLo and the rest of her team insisted that Jesús visit a hospital in the United Arab Emirates, assuring him that he should not worry about work and take the time to rest.
"Everyone on his team did everything they could to get him to the doctors because he wasn't well. They told him he wasn't going to work, that he should see a doctor and rest. And he wanted to go home," Gris said of his brother's visit to the UAE.
Likewise, Jesus' sister assured that the Diva of the Bronx has been cooperative with the investigations, being the one who has helped them to trace a route of the stylist's stay in the Middle Eastern country.
"She guided us in everything she could, along with others who were there. I am very grateful for everything she did for him, from going to the doctor and not working and resting," the late stylist's sister said about JLo .
The 55-year-old artist also expressed her condolences on social media, where she dedicated some emotional farewell words to the stylist, making it clear that beyond their professional relationship, she and Jesús also shared a great friendship.
