A mother of two was drugged, gang-raped, and murdered by three men on Saturday, April 17, in a village in Ahmedabad, India.
According to the police, the 24-year-old woman was abducted by three men while she was on her way to work.
The victim will not be named, considering the sensitivity of the crime.
All three suspects were arrested. They were identified as, Raju Solanki, Imran, and Shakil, all residents of the same village.
"She was taken to the house of one Raju Solanki in the area where she was drugged and gang-raped by the three accused," a police spokesperson said, the Times of India reported.
The suspects covered the victim’s face to silence her screams and took turns to rape the victim brutally.
"The accused stuffed a handkerchief in her mouth fearing that neighbors would hear her call for help and that they would be cough," the official said.
The suspects also shot a seamy video of them engaging in the act. They fled the scene after the woman became unresponsive.
The victim’s family members who were frantically searching for her later resorted to police and filed a missing person’s complaint.
The woman was later found dead by the police.
An investigation was initiated, during which investigator’s received a tip-off and questioned Solanki. He confessed to the crime and also told police about the other two accused and their involvement in the crime.
It is unclear at this time whether the victim and the suspects knew each other.
This is an ongoing investigation and no further information was available at this time.
In a similar incident, a 20-year-old woman was gang-raped in a public garden in the early hours on Tuesday, April 20. The incident happened in the Kirkup Gardens in the Wythenshawe area of Manchester City, England.
The park was sealed off and heavy police presence was seen in and around the area.
According to the police, the suspects have not yet been identified and no arrests were made at this time. A manhunt has been initiated to nab the suspects.
