By now most people have heard the frantic 911 call made by Amanda Berry after escaping the house where she and 2 other women were held captive for a decade.

In her 911 call Amanda Berry tells the operator who she is and that she is "free now." The actions of Amanda Berry have been hailed as heroic but the 911 operator is now under review for not staying on the line with the terrified woman and for not trying to comfort her.

Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus were kidnaped and held hostage for 10-years by Ariel Castro and his two brothers.

On Monday when Castro left his Ohio home Amanda Berry began to scream for help. A neighbor, Charles Ramsey heard the woman's screams and helped her get out of the house. Once free from the house Amanda Berry made that now famous 911 call.

The 911 operator who handled the call made by Berry came under fire via social media. Outraged, people began to criticize the way the 911 operator handled the phone call. Critics say the 911 operator was cold and should have remained on the line with Berry who was obviously still terrified.

In the 911 call Berry says to the dispatcher, "Help me I'm Amanda Berry...I've been kidnapped and I've been missing for 10-years, and I'm here and I'm free now."

The dispatcher's response was, "Okay and what's your address?"

The emotional and terrified Amanda Berry continued to tell the dispatcher her address and begged for police to come.

The dispatcher responded with a cool tone saying, "We're going to send them as soon as a car opens."

"No, I need them now before he gets back," Berry exclaimed with worry in her voice.

The 911 operator kept telling Amanda Berry to stay with the neighbors and talk with police when they arrive. After a minute and 42 seconds the operator and Berry disconnected.

Now the Daily News and other publications are reporting the Director of Public Safety for northeastern Ohio City, Martin Flask released a statement saying the 911 operator is under review.

In the statement Flask says, "While the call-taker complied with policies and procedures, which enabled a very fast response by police, we have noted some concerns which will be the focus of our review, including the call-taker's failure to remain on the line with Ms. Berry until police arrived on the scene."

"Please be assured that this matter will be investigated, and if necessary, appropriate corrective action taken," Flask added.

Flask did not condemn the 911 operator from the Amanda Berry call. He simply stated that an investigation was needed. He also gave the dispatcher credit for taking the call and sending it out in 90 seconds.

Flask said "As a result of the call-taker's actions, police were dispatched to and on scene in less than two minutes."
