Saying that Shawn Mendes is pretty famous is probably an understatement these days. He’s been raking in awards after awards, and he’s rolling in dough, thanks to his albums that are selling like pancakes.
But if fans think that somebody as famous as Mendes will have a totally different set of problems from that of a regular guy, they’re dead wrong. Here are the top moments that show that the pop rock singer is just like some of his fans.
1. Some girls ignore him
Getting ignored by one’s crush is a rather common experience for the regular Jane or Joe. Simply put, the other party may already have someone else. But it makes it surprising to know that somebody as famous, successful and good-looking as Mendes gets ignored too. Well, he probably doesn’t get ignored that often, but still it did happen once.
In an interview with ET Canada, American singer and songwriter Billie Eilish spilled the bean on the time when the Canadian singer sent her a message. “Shawn Mendes texted me, but I didn’t respond,” she revealed.
A fan then tweeted the clip, which eventually caught Mendes’ attention. “LOL wow,” Mendes commented while retweeting the clip.
2. He thinks he got no game
Mendes admits that he definitely has an edge in the looks department. However, that does not mean that he’ll go ahead and chat with the girls even if he finds them attractive. And the reason is simple — he believes he’s got no game.
“Dude, I have no game,” Mendes told Rolling Stone in an interview. “There’s less we have to do because of the good hair. We’re already 10 steps ahead. But being good-looking doesn’t make you have game.”
3. He won’t have a relationship just for the sake of having one
Famous celebrities are known for changing lovers in the blink of an eye. Sometimes they even have multiple lovers simultaneously. But Mendes is not buying into that lifestyle.
“I'm not currently dating anyone, but it's not because I don't have time — I don't know if I'd be dating anyone if I was home in Pickering, either. It hasn’t stumbled across me, and I’m not chasing it,” Mendes told Variety.
“Of course, seeing all those other artists and people in relationships, you think, ‘Maybe it would be nice; who would be great for me?’ And that’s when you realize: ‘This is wrong. Let it be. I’m not supposed to be with anyone right now.’”
