Congratulations are in order for Shakira and Gerard Piqué! The lovely pair has welcomed another baby boy into their family, making their first-born Milán a big brother. Shakira gave birth via Cesarean section at the Teknon clinic in Barcelona, where Milán was born just two years before in January 22, 2013. The couple reserved an entire floor and requested the same doctor who delivered their older child. Amid speculation of the singer’s delivery, the hospital was surrounded by paparazzi for several days.
"We are happy to announce the birth of Sasha Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 29 at 9:54pm, in Barcelona," a read in an update on the Colombian singer’s website. "The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian descent and means 'defender of mankind' and 'warrior.'" The post continued: "The hospital confirmed that both mother and child are in excellent health." Piqué’s grandfather, Amador Bernabéu, spoke with reporters Friday, revealing more details about the little one. "They've told me he looks like Gerard," he said. Piqué’s father, Joan also weighed in, "Milan looked like Shakira when he was born, but this one looks more like his father," he told Hello! magazine.
A cute little fact of this gorgeous family is that all of their birthdays happen within two weeks: Milán on January 22, Sasha on January 29, and Shakira and Piqué on February 2. Talk about a celebration! We couldn’t be happier for these two and little Milán who will experience the joys of being a big brother, and of course, we can’t wait to see the first picture of this little bundle of joy.
