A registered predator caught breaking into a 5-year-old girl's room through a window was left bruised after being tackled by the victim's parents and bound with duct tape before being handed over to law enforcement on Tuesday, July 6.
Daniel Diaz, a 39-year-old registered sex offender, has been arrested after allegedly trespassing into a residence in the 8700 block of Charles Street in Stanislaus County, California, at around 5:00 a.m and entering a 5-year-old girl’s bedroom while she was asleep.
Fortunately, Diaz was quickly discovered and confronted by the girl's parents who immediately overpowered and restrained him before handing over the suspect to the police, Fox News reported.
Diaz reportedly started harassing the girl's family by knocking on their door first. The sex offender then allegedly peeked in through the windows before starting to show his private parts and touching himself. Discovering Diaz, the girl's father reportedly warned him to leave, however, the depraved man continued loitering around their premises.
After the parents lost sight of the man and believed that he had vacated their area, they were stunned hearing a loud noise coming from their 5-year-old daughter’s bedroom, WTVY reported.
When the parents rushed to find the source of the commotion, they found that Diaz had removed a screen in the girl's window and had crawled into the home.
“The man turned on the lights, and that’s when my sister woke up and got scared,” Ceci Ramirez, the victim’s older sister said.
The girls' angered father reportedly immediately tackled Diaz, took him downstairs and pulled him out of the house. CCTV footage from the area shows her father pinning Diaz to the ground and thrashing him. Diaz was then reportedly restrained by the girls' parents using duct tape as they waited for the police officers to arrive.
“I was pretty scared because I thought the man would’ve taken him and kidnapped her,” Ramirez said.
The victim’s mother said that her younger daughter is fine but a little scared.
Ramirez said that "she feels like she is not safe" but also added that she is proud of her father for protecting their family.
Diaz is a registered sex offender on the Megan’s Law website. He was reportedly convicted in 2009 of assault with intent to commit rape and was released from prison in 2018, according to local stations.
The police have nabbed Diaz and charged him with child endangerment, home invasion, and peeping and prowling. He is being held on a bond of US$150,000, according to online jail records.
