Seems like the drama between Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid is over. Hadid made the first peace offering by liking a photo of Gomez on Instagram.
The said Instagram photo was posted by Gomez’s makeup artist, Hung Vanggo, just several hours ago, Elle reported. The celebrity Vietnamese makeup artist showcased on his Instagram a semi close-up shot of a stunning Gomez wearing a custom Louis Vuitton white leather satin bustier, with her hair up in an elegant bun and her slender neck bejeweled by a giant Bulgari necklace.
This photo of the “Wolves” singer was taken at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, where Gomez walked the red carpet for the first time ever to promote her movie “The Dead Don’t Die.”
This femme fatale look of Gomez earned thousands of like from users, including the 22-year-old supermodel Hadid, who famously unfollowed Gomez on Instagram in January 2017. This was after photos of Gomez and Hadid’s then-ex-boyfriend The Weeknd kissing surfaced online. Two months later, in March, The Weeknd and Gomez unfollowed Hadid.
To serve as a refresher of this romantic drama history, Hadid and Canadian singer The Weeknd (whose real name is Abel Tesfaye) began dating early in 2015. The couple was first seen cozying up at Coachella that year, and Hadid even starred in The Weeknd’s “In the Night” music video in December 2015.
In November 2016, Hadid and The Weeknd amicably broke up due to “conflicting schedules.” Two months later, in January 2017, Gomez and The Weeknd were photographed making out. Soon they followed each other on Instagram and even went on a holiday in Florence and Venice. The duo was famous for their PDAs, with the paparazzi churning up numerous photos of them making out in public places.
In October of the same year, Gomez and The Weeknd split but have never publicly disclosed the reason. However, Teen Vogue reported that People magazine suggested that distance was the reason.
“She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship,” a source told the magazine. “It's been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn't easy on them.”
After his breakup with Gomez, The Weeknd quietly unfollowed some of Gomez’s family and friends. In July 2018, The Weeknd and Hadid got back together after a two-year split.
With Hadid liking an Instagram photo of the 26-year-old Gomez at her momentous first appearance at Cannes, it may be a sure sign that those hard feelings are gone.
