With Easter having Christians in the celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, many believers are also considering Christ's "Second Coming" that is alleged to be foretold in the Bible.

Christ's "Second Coming" is also called the "Second Advent" is said to be a divine event that marks the end of the world as we know it. Christ will return to Earth and judge the living and the dead.

Most English versions of the Nicene Creed in current use include the following beliefs about the "Second Coming."

"He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come."

Now that we understand exactly what the "Second Coming' is, new research states that many US Christians believe that the 'Second Coming' will occur sometime within the next 40 years.

The Pew Research Center published a 2010 survey indicating that roughly half (48 percent) of Christians in the U.S. say they believe that Christ will definitely (27 percent) or probably (20 percent) return to earth in the next 40 years. Somewhat fewer (38 percent) say this definitely will not happen (10 percent) or probably will not happen (28 percent).

Comparing these numbers to more results from the Pew Center makes these percentages staggering. Christians make up 78.4 percent of adults in the United States. Based on interviews with more than 35,000 Americans age 18 and older, that means 27,440 US adults are Christian and 13,171 believe that Christ will return in the next 40 years.

Which means a very, very large number of those adults not only belief in the literal interpretation of the resurrection and ascension, they're authentically in waiting for the return of Jesus Christ.

What do you think of the research done by the Pew Center? Do you believe in Christ's "Second Coming"?
