In Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday night, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez defeated Alfredo Angulo by a technical knockout. This happened in the 10th round of really a one sided fight and it was all about Canelo. Álvarez was not in the zone when he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September. But this fight was a different one. Alvarez took advantage of every opportunity by beating Angulo up, the fight was stopped by the referee with 47 seconds left in the 10th round.

"Tonight I was the best fighter. "I definitely rebounded from the Mayweather fight with a strong performance. I'm very happy. I came here and did my job," he said. His performance was impressive and might have opened doors for greater things in his career.

Canelo landed 37 of 62 punches as the crowd chanted “Canelo! Canelo! Canelo!” Alvarez was definitely in the zone while Angulo looked slow and just could not keep up with Canelo. Alvarez was not missing with his punches and Angulo could not get out of the way and just kept on getting hit. In the 10th round, when Canelo landed a hard left uppercut, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight at 47 seconds. Canelo commented on the stoppage and said "The referee stopped the fight. He's the law of the ring. I could have fought another 10 rounds, but referee stopped the fight. It's not my problem."

This fight was the first of three fights for Canelo this year. The next one is scheduled for July 26 and the other one on Nov. 22. There are no set opponents for these fights. Watch highlights of the fight here!
