Sami Hayek, brother of Oscar nominated actress Salma Hayek, was involved in a fatal car accident on Sunday afternoon that has cost the life of one person. The 40-year-old designer was driving a 2006 Ford GT eastbound on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a truck, ABC7 reports. The incident happened in the 10200 block of Sunset around 4:50 p.m. Hayek's vehicle crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, according to Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver of the truck was identified as Alvin Javier Gomez, a 20-year-old resident of Los Angeles. He was rushed to the hospital and only suffered from a broken foot. It was not good news for Hayek as his passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim of the crash was pronounced dead at the scene described as a 43-year-old Mexican resident, whose identity has not been revealed. Salma's brother suffered from several broken ribs and a laceration to his head. Investigation is continuing to find out the reason why Hayek lost control of his automobile.
Sami Hayek is a designer who originally was in the middle of a business administration career when he had a change of heart and realized he wanted to be an artist.
