Mexican actress and producer, Salma Hayek, recently revealed that she felt offended by MTV. She was nominated for the network's famous "Movie Awards" last April in the "Best Latino Actor" category.

She was contacted by MTV informing her that her performance as a Mexican cartel boss in the Oliver Stone 2012 thriller "Savages" was nominated and she actually had a great chance of winning, and as a result, she needed to pre-record a video acceptance speech in case she actually won.

Hayek soon realized the category was not going to be televised, and she got upset. She told InStyle magazine, "When they told me I (might win), I was asked to tape a message saying thank you. But the thing is, this particular award isn't televised."
"Now, believe me, I am so grateful they acknowledge all of our great Latin performers," she added, "but I refused to tape the acknowledgement."

Salma explained that Latinos need to be more respected in Hollywood and in general. "If we Latins are not worth their time on television, why should they be worth mine? I think we deserve better than that, so I told them I wouldn't participate."
In the end, the title for Best Latino Actor ended up being awarded to Javier Bardem for his performance in the Bond blockbuster "Skyfall."
