Manchester United star player Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first person to reach 400 million followers on Instagram after recently celebrating his birthday on Saturday.
Ronaldo, with a total of 3242 posts and an average of 10 million likes, grew his Instagram account and broke records by becoming the most followed person ever to gather 400 million followers.
He posted a photo of him and long time partner Georgina Rodriguez, with a cake that appeared to form his nickname CR7, "Life is a roller coaster. Hard work, high speed, urgent goals, demanding expectations… But in the end, it all comes down to family, love, honesty, friendship, values that make it all worth it. Thanks for all the messages! 37 and counting!" he wrote on the popular social media platform, thanking all his fans for their birthday greetings.
Meanwhile, the 56-year-old famous broadcaster Piers Morgan also shared a picture with the Manchester United forward on Twitter for the footballer's Instagram growth, "Congratulations on becoming the first human being ever to reach 400 million followers on Instagram. The undisputed social media goat, p.s he only follows 500 people, including me… he knows a good grammer when he sees one."
Despite massive followers, the Portuguese striker only follows 500 people on Instagram. Kylie Jenner is second in the rankings, with over 308 million followers. Lionel Messi is currently on the third spot with 306 million.
Since returning to Manchester United after 12 years, Ronaldo has scored 14 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions. He recently commented on his desire to continue play past 40 years.
Ronaldo last played in Manchester United's 8-7 penalty loss to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Friday, with an ending score of 1-1 after extra time. He missed a penalty and failed to help Ralf Rangnick's side to reach the fifth round. He will be playing in the next game when the Red Devils meet Burnley in the Premier League. Man Utd must secure a place in the top four of the Premier League by the end of the season to be able to participate in the Champions League.
