Romeo Santos is not one to keep active on social media, but when he does, it is to announce that he is now a CEO.
The bachata crooner, who last made headlines for his win at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards and for his role in the "Angry Birds" movie, is back in the news after revealing his new venture as CEO Wednesday afternoon. It turns out that Santos has teamed up with renowned rapper and business mogul Jay Z to reign the new Latino division of Jay's entertainment company, Roc Nation.
In a very exciting tweet, the "Eres Mia" singer expressed the following: "There's always room for BIGGER things. I'm now CEO of Roc Nation Latin. Let's go!" The company then confirmed the news with their statement: "@RomeoSantosPage joins Roc Nation Management and is named CEO of Roc Nation Latin." Santos' longtime manager, Johnny Marines, has been named president.
Roc Nation Latin, according to an official press release, will act as a full-service entertainment division of Roc Nation focused on developing and cultivating Latin talent while providing marketing, endorsement deals, philanthropic support, media relations and brand strategy, expanding into both national and international markets.
Born Shawn Carter, Jay Z revealed the reason he had his eyes set on the Dominican artist. “Romeo has had tremendous success as a composer and producer and can spot true talent," he said in the statement. "This is a tremendous step for Roc Nation. We recognize there is a huge Latin market that is part of global culture. We’re proud and ready to enter into true partnership with an individual that intimately lives and knows that culture.”
"With this next step and phase in my career I see a great opportunity to give back all that I have learned during the past few years to new talent," said Santos, who also spoke highly of the rapper. "Not only do I idolize Jay Z as an artist but also as a business mogul. Jay Z is a visionary who was able to recognize that in our Latin Culture there is a lot of talent. I am grateful for his trust and that he has seen in me an ally for all Latinos."
The "Hilito" singer also joins Roc Nation as an exclusive management client. In the partnership, Roc Nation will provide marketing, brand development and brand deals as well as oversee touring for the multi-faceted musician.
Roc Nation, founded in 2008, is a full-service entertainment company and is home to renowned recording artists, writers and producers including Rihanna, Shakira, J. Cole, and more.
