The highly-anticipated release of "The Angry Birds Movie" is just around the corner. For the last couple of years ---since 2011 to be exact--- the movie has been in the works and since has teased fans on social media with trailers, small previews, photos, and more. In fact, in 2014 it was announced that Romeo Santos will be part of the upcoming animated flick.
Now, just one month ahead of the movie's theatrical debut, Sony and Rovio Entertainment present a preview of Romeo's character. Although we're yet to know the name of his role, we can tell from the look of the first photo that the fluffy, yellow birdie is a caring family man with a loving wife and a bunch of adorable kids! The picture also demonstrates, not an angry bird, but rather a stressful one. This is the second film appearance by the King of Bachata, following his acting debut role as Cristian Marambio in 2015's "Fast and Furious 7."
"The Angry Birds Movie" is an adaptation of the popular "Angry Birds" mobile game app that has garnered over 1.7 billion downloads since its debut in 2009. The movie is co-produced by former president of Marvel Studios, David Maisel (Iron Man), and John Cohen (Despicable Me). The movie will be distributed by Rovio Entertainment and Sony.
Demi Lovato, on the other hand, is also stoked to be part of "The Angry Birds Movie" as part of the movie's soundtrack. "Excited to announce I’m singing a song for #AngryBirdsMovie! Can’t wait for u to hear it and see the movie in May," she expressed on Twitter to her over 35 million followers early April. Recently, a preview of her song was released on social media, where Lovato is covering Gloria Gaynor's classic disco jam "I Will Survive."
"The Angry Birds Movie," starring Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad,Jason Sudeikis, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Tony Hale, Hannibal Buressy Cristela Alonzo, Blake Shelton and more, will premiere May 20 in theaters nationwide.
