Ricky Martin is opening up about his love life after ending his long-term relationship with Carlos González Abella in 2014. The 43-year-old singer confessed he is ready to walk down the aisle with that someone especial but he hasn’t found him yet. He adds that even though some people refer to marriage as a piece of paper, that document is important to him.

“That document is important to me. I love the romanticism behind it. Now I’m alone after 7 years. I date. I’m fine. I have encounters with very good-looking men. I want to be able to have a conversation with someone and just look into his eyes and discover his sense of humor. I’m not saying he has to be an Adonis, but there has to be some sort of connection.”

Gay men are often criticized because they are well, men, and they like to flirt, and go around the block, but Ricky affirms he doesn’t want to be “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” he is a father of two, twins Valentino and Mateo, and he loves spending time with them.

“I am a man, and yes, it is in our DNA to go out, flirt, and have conquests. But I have two kids and I can’t bring a different man home every night.”

Ricky also expressed his want to expand his family, he wants to settle down, and if possible, have more children. He is considering adoption this time; his twins were brought into the world via surrogate.

“I’m only starting, I want a bigger family. We’ll see what happens next year. I’m also looking into the possibility of adoption, although in some countries if you are a single man it’s a little harder, but not impossible. But it’s worth the shot.”
