It was claimed that Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin was in an incestuous relationship with his nephew for seven months, but the singer denied the shocking allegation.
His attorney, Marty Singer, said in a statement Friday that the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer never had “any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew," reported Page Six. The statement further read that unfortunately, the individual who made the claim is "struggling with deep mental health challenges." The 50-year-old singer has never been and would never be involved in any kind of "sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew. The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting."
The statement read that all hope that the man, who has made the claim, "gets the help he so urgently needs." But, most of all, they look forward to this "awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
Earlier this month, a domestic violence-related restraining order was filed against the singer in Puerto Rico. The alleged victim’s name was not revealed. Last week, the singer's brother Eric allegedly told Marca that Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, who is Martin’s 21-year-old nephew, is the alleged victim. The Grammy winner's brother also claimed that the singer “exercised physical and psychological attacks” on the nephew, with whom he was in a relationship for seven months.
The singer previously denied the domestic violence allegations. He called them “completely false and fabricated.” He said in a statement on July 3 that because it was an ongoing legal matter, he could not "make detailed statements at this time,” but he was "grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them with all my heart.”
According to Deadline, a hearing will take place on July 21 in Puerto Rico on the domestic violence accusations. If he is charged with domestic abuse with a relative, he could face a nearly 50-year sentence if he is found guilty.
Martin is also facing another lawsuit by his on-again, off-again manager, Rebecca Drucker. It is over alleged unpaid commissions to the tune of $3 million. In the suit, which was filed in the Los Angeles Central District Court on June 29, Drucker claimed that she helped protect Martin from a “potentially career-ending allegation” in September 2020. She did not elaborate further on the alleged incident.
