Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin, 50, reportedly faces a restraining order, signed on Friday, over domestic abuse allegations.
"The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated," representatives for Martin told People. "We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated."
The authorities visited an upscale neighborhood in the north coastal town of Dorado where the Latin American icon, whose real name is Enrique Martin, resides. Spokesman Axel Valencia told Associated Press, "Up until now, police haven't been able to find him."
It was unknown who requested the restraining order. Officials said that the petitioner did not initially file a police complaint but went straight to court in their own right to request a protection order.
According to Valencia, he could not provide further details because the order was filed under Puerto Rico's domestic violence law. The order was issued by Judge Raiza Cajigas Campbell of the Court of First Instance of San Juan following the petitioner's request.
The order reportedly stated that Martin and the other party dated for seven months. The report wrote they broke up two months ago, but the petitioner claimed that Martin did not accept the separation and has been seen loitering near the petitioner's house at least three times.
Valencia explained that the restraining order prohibits Martin from contacting or calling the person who filed it and that a judge will later determine whether the order should remain in place or be lifted at a hearing.
Meanwhile, according to legal documents, Martin is also being sued for more than $3 million over unpaid commissions by his ex-manager, Rebecca Drucker. She managed Martin during two separate periods, from 2014 to 2018 and 2020 to 2022, filed a complaint, which according to Drucker, was because the singer's "personal and professional life [were] in absolute turmoil."
Drucker's complaint also included an incident that allegedly took place in Sept. 2020, where she claimed that Martin was threatened with a "potentially career-ending allegation." She claimed that through her counsel, Martin "emerged unscathed and proceeded with his professional resurgence."
Drucker also alleged that Martin "fostered a toxic work environment wherein he constantly mistreated, manipulated, and lied to her, forcing her to resign as his manager in April 2022."
