You can start counting down the days for the return of "Rica Famosa Latina" as Season 5 of the controversial reality show will premiere on Monday, September 18 at 7pm on Estrella TV. The new season will see Niurka Marcos, Luzelba Mansour and Sandra Vidal return to the program and will have the addition of Mimí Lazo, Scarlet Ortiz, Ninette Ríos and Patricia de León. Along with the launch announcement, the Spanish-language network released its first teaser which features all the new girls. Are you as excited as us? Scarlet Ortiz is one of the newbies to "Rica Famosa Latina" this season. The Venezuelan actress is best known for her roles in telenovelas like "Secreto de Amor", "Todos Quieren Con Marilyn," "Mis Tres Hermanas," and most recently on "La Fan." Mimí Lazo is a Venezuelan actress that has participated in more than 15 films and about 20 telenovelas. Patricia de León is a former beauty queen, having been crowned as Miss Panamá in 1995. She has presented television shows like "La Corte de Familia" and "La Corte del Pueblo." Patricia has also had guest-starring roles in shows like "Ghost Whisperer," "Cold Case" and "Crossing Jordan" and films like "Fighting For Freedom" and "Bad Ass." Ninette Ríos is a television reporter from Guatemala that has participated in shows on Telemundo and Univision's "Despierta América."
Earlier this year Sissi Fleitas announced she was leaving the show after three seasons. The "My Life Is A Telenovela" star made it official on her social media account. "I will not be on the show," she wrote in an Instagram post with fellow cast mates Luzelba Mansour and Sandra Vidal. "We didn't reach an agreement and there are new things in my personal and professional life that now occupy my time. I know that the new casting is coming along great and that they will be able to entertain all of you at the level of production that characterizes 'Rica Famosa Latina.'"
Cast changes are frequent on the show. This season also saw the fleeing of Lupillo Rivera's wife Mayeli Rivera, along with Victoria del Rosal and Andrea García. What is sad about the girls leaving is that viewers don't get closure from previous seasons's drama. Mayeli had a troubled season with Fleitas which ended in a big fight and now we can only assume they never talked it out and resolved their issues. One of the biggest fights last season was the one between Del Rosal and Sandra Vidal, which ended in a bloody altercation. They both allege that they were going to handle their drama in court, but a year later and nothing came of it. For situations like the latter, it is why the veracity of the program comes into question. On social media people debated if the fight between Sandra and Victoria was real or if it was just used as a ratings ploy for the show to gain more attention.
