"Reign" will premiere on Thursday, October 17, and we have some serious scoop regarding the new CW series! "Reign" will feature Mary, Queen of Scots, as it main protagonist, the series will follow the royal during the early years of her life in 1557 France. The pilot episode will introduce the audience to Mary Stuart; a young woman history will later call Mary, Queen of Scots. Mary is a strong monarch, even as a teenager, using her beauty passion and intelligence to aid her rise to power through a tumultuous time in France. The show "Reign" will focus on Mary's history and rule; the series begins with the teenager arriving in France, with her four ladies-in-waiting, Mary considers these young women her closet friends.
The CW has ordered more scrips for the new show already.The young Queen arrives in France to secure Scotland's necessary alliance with the country; she is instructed by her family and house to cement the arranged engagement to French King's son, Francis II of France. Not only is Francis handsome and desirable, he will soon sit upon the throne. And despite the engagement beginning previously arranged, Mary's walk down the aisle is far for guaranteed. Mary certainly falls for Francis, but the marriage has more to do with politics than love. And although Mary is certainly falling head over her adorned heels for the young soon to be King, he is not so ready to settle down. Francis is attracted to Mary due to her fiery passion, but his soon to be wife, is not the only women in court to have caught his wandering eye.
Francis has a steamy history courting the noble women of the French court, so he is not ready to give up his favorite past time just for a marriage. But Francis is not the only man in the French court with a wandering eye, his half-brother Bash has also spotted Mary. Bash, is his father's favorite although he is an illegitimate son, but this fact alone does not stop his flirting with the young Queen. "Reign" stars Adelaide Kane as Mary, Toby Regbo as Prince Francis, Torrance Coombs as Bash, Megan Follows as Queen Catherine, Alan Van Sprang as King Henry, Celina Sinden as Greer, Caitlin Stasey as Kenna, Anna Popplewell as Lola, and Jenessa Grant as Aylee. The series will premiere on the CW on October 17 at 9 pm.
