In an effort to prevent tourists from overwhelming their favorite local eateries, London residents are leaving positive reviews on locations of a restaurant chain.

Reddit users began leaving complimentary reviews of Angus Steakhouse restaurants, hoping that they would encourage traveling influencers who don't know any better to eat there instead of the steakhouses that are actually beloved by Londoners.

All of this began after Redditors living in London took to the app in order to complain about how their favorite local restaurants were so overwhelmed with tourists that they could no longer access them, reported The Standard.

One Reddit user shared their experience with one of their favorite restaurants, The Black Pig sandwich shop in Borough Market, saying it had been "ruined by influencers" after chatter about the restaurant's sandwiches resulted in enough publicity for the restaurant to garner lines of "over 200 people".

Responding comments complimenting Angus Steakhouse began to receive immense traction, with thousands of users upvoting them. The trend grew as users realized their positive comments about the restaurant could encourage tourists and influencers to eat there instead of at the eateries locals preferred, preventing those restaurants from becoming "ruined by influencers".

"FYI, Angus Steakhouse does an awesome steak sandwich. Influencers should try it and be amazed," read one comment which received thousands of upvotes.

"Angus Steakhouse in London has been ruined by influencers," another post was titled.

"My grandfather used to take me to Angus Steakhouse when they were still nothing but a shed on the road," said another Reddit user. "Sometimes they would have open mic nights for unknown bands. Saw the Rolling Stones and Oasis years before they blew up."

Angus Steakhouse, which often advertises itself as "London's original steakhouse", has multiple locations in tourist hotspots across the city, including within the West End, Paddington and Leicester Square.
